BTRS (Being There Recreate System) is a live spatial audio streaming solution. Powered by the Gaudio Lab’s advanced binaural rendering technology, BTRS provides viewers with immersive sound that creates an illusion of “Being There” without compromising existing workflow or the need for additional equipment. Automatic View-Adaptive Audio (AVAA) technology provides a spatial sound that changes as the video scene changes, delivering an experience of “Being There” within the on-screen 2D environment. Officially launched in April 2022, AVAA has been applied to Naver NOW (Korea’s leading live streaming service) and Dingo Music / Dingo Freestyle YouTube Channels (total of 5.9M Subscribers).

“Enabling spatial audio in a live setting is a daunting challenge”

The sheer cost of sophisticated and expensive spatial audio equipment, as well as the cost of expert knowledge in deploying those assets correctly is enough to make anyone hesitant about spatial audio. Ever after successful deployment, live-streaming poses another serious challenge: motion-to-sound latency, the delay between physical movement of a user’s head (wearing the audio device) and the relative updated soundscape reaching the user’s ears with correct imaging.

BTRS delivers a software-based solution to spatial audio production, without the need for spatial audio equipment. The intuitive UI allows even lay users to easily tune and fit a target spatial acoustic design. In live multi-camera production settings, live streaming software such as video switcher, vMix, and OBS Studio are used to get the desired video on camera for streaming.

AVAA on BTRS is connected to video switchers and live video streaming software to automatically process spatial audio that fits the scene.
The combined expertise of seasoned audio professionals (combined 9 doctorates and 5 masters in audio) has allowed the BTRS to process accurate sound positioning without sacrificing sound quality.

BTRS supports AVAA once audio equipment settings are confirmed. The remarkably low fixed latency of 26 ms makes it great for multiple input channels, robust not only for streaming, but even in settings with a live audience. Create unlimited output to support headphone signal (bianural) output, provide the audience with multi-channel output and mono audio for monitoring staff.

 

AVAA on BTRS is connected to video switchers and live video streaming software to automatically process spatial audio that fits the scene. With BTRS, pre-defined scenes for each cut will allow the system to process new cuts with predesignated scenes with appropriate spatial audio matching the screen. AVAA supports smooth audio dissolve between scene transitions that best fit the spatial audio settings.

Innovative UI supports versatile sound direction BTRS provides Scene Types, developed through application across diverse contents. Using the intuitive UI, Scene Types can be applied with consideration for camera movement/rotation, multi-view, PIP (Picture In Picture), and even character movement on screen.
